This is a guest blog by Dave Smith, one of our Dream Coaches and a certified life coach. Where are you? I am not talking about where you are geographically at this moment. Rather, where are you with your life? Interestingly, this is the very first question God asked man. “Where are you?”. Adam had managed to get himself into a rather awkward predicament. It was not only awkward, it was tragic. The truth of the situation is that he was where he was at that moment due to some poor choices he had made.

Last week we started to outline four steps to change the FACE of culture. In catalyzing a Global Dream Culture our heart is to resource you with tools and keys to help you bring positive change. Last week we talked about Facilitating an Experience and Activating Champions. This week we talk about Communication and Equipping the Masses.

A culture is the combined experience of a lived-out set of core values. The emphasis is the lived-out part. If the core values are not being experienced and reproduced then they are not really core values, just good ideas. What are your core values? How well are you communicating them? What would others say your core values are?

Recently I was asked to talk on “How to Build a Dream Culture.” The catch was that I just had 45 minutes. Great challenge! I floundered around preparing and trying to boil it down to a few points. I then spontaneously asked a friend “tell me three keys to change a culture.”

Off the top of his head he highlighted the main points I’d been laboring over for an hour. Genius! I added one and changed the words to give the acronym F.A.C.E. Here’s two of the four steps to build a Dream Culture – changing the FACE of a culture:

Recently I got to connect with a new friend who is walking through a tough season recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor. He is a young husband, father, gifted leader and highly active adventurer. But for now his daily outlook is rehabilitation, walking through activities to restore the full functionality that most of us take for granted on a day to day basis.

What you believe determines what you experience on your dream journey. We have encountered some common lies thrown at people in an attempt to de-stabilize their walk with the Father and undermine their identity as His children. If embraced, they will sabotage your ability to make confident steps to live your dreams. Here they are and what to do about them…

As you read this I encourage you to examine what it is you truly believe and ask yourself what decisions you would make if you believed something different. Keep reading because it ends really well!

Lately people have been asking us how we self-published Dream Culture : Bringing Dreams to Life. Why did we self-publish? Have we had publishing offers? What does someone need to do to publish a book and how much does it cost? Here’s our story…

1. Write the manuscript. The first thing we did was to write the book itself. Originally Danny Silk had asked me to write a manual for Dream Culture as part of my internship – so that people could take what we are doing at Bethel Church and reproduce it elsewhere. This turned into a 50-page document by the time we had thought through the different steps, values and dream-coach development involved.

Last week our Dream Journey DVD Series and accompanying workbook went ‘live.’ At the same time we did our first public Dream Culture event at Bethel. In the process I was reminded of an individual who has played a significant part contributing to what we do. My first connection with him came simply from saying ‘thank you’ on an online order form.

Last Wednesday to Friday we had our first Dream Culture Conference at Bethel Church in Redding, Ca. We started by getting participants to write down a probable, an improbable and an impossible dream they wanted to happen by the end of the three-day event. So what happens when Dream’s and Heaven collide?
